Welcome to
The Ashen Mane
If you told me I would stop dying my hair ten years ago, I would have laughed and said you were bonkers. I was planning on going to my grave with perfectly dyed hair. I started colouring my hair at seventeen. It was the 80s, and I was dying it for fun, staying on trend. Then, I continued colouring my hair to hide the grey as the years passed. It eventually became necessary to dye it every three weeks and use root coverup powders in between, as my grey hair would appear within a week after dying it. The fun stopped.
The Beginning
In August 2019, I was going on a trip to Manhattan and made sure to get my roots touched up. I was excited, packed, and ready to do everything touristy. While I was on this vacation, my fresh hair color started to fade on my roots the moment I washed my hair in the shower. I was done. That is when I decided to let my grey hair shine. When I got home, I found a new hairstylist who helped me transition my hair to grey. I was ready.
How it Turned Out
August 2024 vs. May 2019. My hair has never been healthier or shinier. I also found that my skin tone and eyes looked brighter with my natural hair color. Contrary to popular belief, the hair dye was aging me and not doing any favors. The overall process was liberating.

I started as a makeup artist, working for MAC Cosmetics and doing freelance work. In 2010, I became focused on skincare and created the natural skincare line Pelle Beauty.
